WOLF CRL evo: Compact Air Handling Units with a Wide Range of Rotary Heat Exchangers and Comfort Features
For smaller buildings or individual building sections with very limited technical space, WOLF presents a range of compact central air handling units with rotary heat exchangers that ideally combine comfort and efficiency.
Covering an air volume flow range from 1,300 to 4,900 m³/h, the new CRL evo central air handling units from WOLF provide the ideal solution for both new-build and retrofit applications where comfort plays a key role. The same performance range is also available in weatherproof outdoor versions in identical size increments. Thanks to the fine gradation of air volume capacities, no technical compromises are necessary — investors receive precisely the right unit size for their project. The units operate very quietly and provide high hygiene standards thanks to pocket filters.
Another advantage of these fully wired, plug-and-play-ready units is the low installation effort required for the factory-assembled system. This is particularly beneficial in refurbishment projects. Planning and installation efforts are also reduced. For easy integration into buildings, units designed for indoor installation from 4,200 m³/h upwards can be delivered in sectional form.
Adaptable System Concept
WOLF offers the right rotary heat exchanger for every application. Each unit size can be equipped with one of six versions: three rotor types (condensation rotor, enthalpy rotor and sorption rotor), each with different sealing variants. The active air conditioning of the supply air is also individually configurable. Options include water-based cooling and heating coils, integrable electric heating modules, as well as refrigerant-based coils (heat pump technology) designed for outdoor units.
This climate split version of the CRL evo is optionally available as a compact solution mounted on a shared base frame. It can be transported to its installation site in a single crane lift. No refrigeration certificate is required for installing this version, as all critical connection work is carried out at the factory.
The Eurovent-certified CRL evo can be extended with additional external modules — for example, for filtration or air conditioning — to enhance the performance profile of any given unit size. These modules are simply attached to the base unit.
Sustainability
As the market places increasing emphasis on Green Air Handling, WOLF offers all CRL evo units optionally in a Green Steel version, which significantly reduces the CO₂ footprint of the manufacturing process. Efficiency can be further increased with the use of labyrinth seals, which minimise internal leakages during heat recovery. The unit’s advanced control system also enables comprehensive energy monitoring.
The rotary heat exchangers recover more than 80 percent of the thermal energy from the exhaust air, meaning that this energy no longer needs to be generated by the heating system. This offers substantial savings in operating costs and ensures compliance with the requirements of the German Buildings Energy Act (GEG). On warm or hot days, they also prevent indoor spaces from overheating due to warm outdoor air.
A rotary heat exchanger also positively influences indoor humidity levels. For example, in the sorption rotor version, a portion of the moisture in the extract air is transferred to the cold, dry outdoor air in winter, creating a pleasant indoor climate. In summer, this effect is reversed: the typically higher outdoor humidity is transferred to the exhaust air.
